His mission was to follow in the footsteps of Captain Scott and promote his legacy. It took Henry and Geoff Somers, his experienced companion, 14 days to complete the journey and it was an incredible feat.

Henry Evans visited our school on 17th October 2016. He delivered assemblies about his adventures to EYFS, KS1, KS2 and KS3 pupils. Children learnt about where he slept, what he ate and the different dangers he faced throughout the trip. Pupils were able to try on his arctic clothing, watch video footage from his journey and ask questions.

The presentations were age appropriate and linked to many areas of the curriculum. Global warming issues were discussed and how they are affecting marine biology in the South Pole.

Children thoroughly enjoyed Henry’s confident and enthusiastic presentation style and were given an excellent incite into what life was like at the South Pole.
