We have been developing the Nursery children's phonics skills throughout the year. The children have been learning about environmental sounds, instrumental sounds, body percussion, rhyme and rhythm, alliterations and now they are developing their oral blending and segmenting skills by playing with letters and sounds daily in the Nursery classroom. Now we can see that most of the Nursery children are beginning to read simple cvc (consonant-vowel-consonant) words and matching pictures with words. They are developing their phonics awareness through learning Jolly phonics actions and songs and playing practical phonics games online. They are also playing with puzzles and with magnetic letters and cards. Also, while they eat their snacks, read books or play with toys, adults are using robot talk for them so that children become more confident in their phonics knowledge and skills.
