BST Sports Days
The week kicked off with the Early Years Sports Day. It was designed to give the boys and girls on lower campus a chance to show off what they have been doing this year in front of their parents, with the main emphasise of the day being fun and active. Years 1-3 was a similar but more challenging day. It was also designed to be non-competitive although the best jumpers, throwers and runners were recognised, working towards preparing them for the more serious and competitive Key Stage 2 events. It was a great day with the students working very hard both when participating and when supporting their friends and peers.
Later in the week, Years 4-6 & 7-9 had their respective Sports Days. They were days which not only gave our strongest athletes an opportunity to excel, but also for the school community to come together with a collective spirit and shared ethos. The days consisted of track and field athletics and a football tournament. The football tournament was designed as a whole school event where each respective year group results were collated together as a collective competition.
The Sports Days were an opportunity to set both year group and whole school records for The British School Tashkent. The records will be kept on file and next year pupils will be given the chance to try and break the set records. Assemblies were held to celebrate year group house successes, individual record holders and the best male and female athlete from each year group.
I would like to thank the students for attending, participating and supporting each other in such a fantastic manner. I would also like to thank parents who were able to come along and show their support. Finally, a huge thank you to all the staff, especially the PE department for enabling the days to come together and run so smoothly.
