Yet again, Book Week at BST was a huge success and enjoyed by all. The purpose of this week was to highlight the importance of Reading, both for learning and pleasure.
Book Week 2018, with a Fairy Tale theme, was kick-started with a ‘Cuddle up and Read’ day, as well as a visit from Katie Dale, a British author.
The Book Swap event was extremely popular this year, with the children having the opportunity to swap a book with a friend. This enabled children to get great new books to read, whilst also being good for the environment!
We received some fantastic entries for our three competitions – the fairy tale writing competition, potato character competition, and the diorama competition. All children in Primary had the opportunity to test their spelling skills by taking part in the Spelling Bee competition. Congratulations to Polina Tsoy from 3B, who was crowned BST Spelling Bee 2018 champion.
A new competition for Book Week 2018 was the 'House Reading Competition.' For every book read in school, a house token was given out. The Romans read the most number of books during the week - well done!
On the final day of Book Week the children and teachers were invited to dress up as their favourite Fairy Tale character. Little Red Riding Hood, Peter Pan, Sleeping Beauty and Goldilocks were just some of the characters on show.
A big thank you to all parents for helping your child to participate during Book Week, from supporting your child with the competition entries to helping with the costumes.
It was so delightfully obvious how many of our children genuinely love curling up with a book.
